Permanent cosmetics is one of
the largest and highest demanded procedures for Southern Draw.
Artist, Rhonda Marsh added this service to her business in 1997 and combined her
cosmetology background with her tattoo skills and found a completely new realm
of business and a broadening of her clientele base.
Permanent Cosmetics is becoming more popular everyday. Imagine not having to do
your eyeliner anymore, or bringing brows to someone who may have little to no
eyebrows (No more accidentally wiping those pencil eyebrows off!), or having
lipstick on all day long!
Rhonda gives very informative seminars on permanent cosmetics at the various
tattoo conventions she attends. To see which conventions at which she will be
doing seminars this year, please go to the Conventions
Schedule page. All procedures are painless with the help of a topical
anesthetic which is extremely effective and makes the entire procedure virtually
pain free.
Rhonda received her training with well known derma technician, Sandy Hammons, at
The American Institute of Interterm Cosmetics in Arlington, Texas. She also
supports the use of Ms. Hammons products, especially her pure pigments which are
Non-Iron oxide and thus leaving you with color that STAYS! (Iron Oxide pigments
are Iron based, and therefore the body absorbs the natural Iron compound,
leaving only the base color behind, or in some cases no color at all).
Rhonda has received a lot of recognition in the surrounding area for her ability
to do quality and clean permanent makeup. Her recognition and reputation of this
service only adds to the success of Southern Draw Skin Art Studio.
Rhonda also works for a well known plastic surgeon's office in West Knoxville, Tennessee
doing permanent cosmetics which is run by K.
Allen Harper M.D., P.C.

About Pigments
Iron Oxide: (Inorganic)
Many Interdermal Cosmetic Technicians use Iron Oxide based pigments (colors). Originally, Iron Oxide pigments were the only pigments that were proven to be safe to use on the delicate facial tissue, with less allergic reactions or side effects.
However,
Iron Oxide can cause serious pain or burning when receiving an MRI.
Iron Oxide pigments do not stay permanently, thus giving clients only a
semi-permanent procedure.
The body will naturally absorb the iron (especially in women, once a month, and
all the time for iron deficient or anemic patients) and the procedure will
quickly start to fade.
Lip colors almost never take, and require multiple touch ups with poor results
consistently.
We Recommend & Use:
Non Iron Oxide: (Organic)
For the simple reasons stated above, we prefer to use organic pigments that do not contain Iron Oxide. We use a variety of high quality organic pigments, which are pure pigment based, hypoallergenic, MRI safe, and best of all FADE RESISTANT!! We do recommend that potential clients receive a patch test 24-48 hours prior to scheduled procedure to insure that you do not have an allergic reaction to the pigment. Allergic occurrences are very rare, but can occur. Organic pigments benefit clients better in the following ways:
Lip colors stay true and bright, and require no touch up!
Brows that you can depend on, and stay true to color.
Widest
variety of colors made.
We use colors from manufacturers such as John Hashey, Arty Joe, Premier
Pigments, Millennium Color Corp, and Starbrite.

Anesthetics:
All procedures are done with
a very effective topical anesthetic called Dermacaine. Anesthetic times
vary depending on procedure.

PATIENTS ALLERGIC TO NOVOCAIN
OR ANY CAINE BASED PRODUCTS SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE SERVICES DONE.![]()

Guarantee/Touch Ups:
All work is guaranteed, and
touch ups are free depending on after care taken and no changes to actual
procedure itself. (Thickening, change of color, etc.)
Eyebrows are always going to
need to be touched up one time due to oiliness in forehead skin. Eyebrows
can not be made to look like hair strokes, shaded brows only (looks exactly like
eyebrow pencil) hairline strokes do not hold up over time.
Lasting Time:
The procedures are expected
to last 5-8 years depending on sun exposure and skin care routines.
Risks Involved:![]()
Clients prone to cold sores
or fever blisters need to be on a prescription drug called Zorvirax or Valtrex
the day before procedure and a week thereafter. Doing procedure without
this prescription will result in onset of cold sores/ fever blisters and loss of
color in those areas. This means even if they have not had a cold sore in
10 years, the herpes virus lays dormant in the systems.
Patch Test:
A patch test is recommended
24-48 hours before procedure, but client may sign a waiver releasing us of responsibility
to allergic reaction if they choose not to do the patch test. Any clients
that have had a tattoo and had an allergic reaction to the pigment, or has
severe allergies in general will be required to do the patch test.
What To Bring With You:
Client should bring in their
favorite eyebrow pencil, lip liner or lipstick, or eyeliner pencil when coming
in to get procedure so that we can match up the color. All colors are matte and
most colors can be matched almost perfectly or very close. Wide variety of
colors to choose from, or can mix up color to suite client.
